David Bowie was the fore runner of a great many things and - like him or not - he had some great music.  You can sample some at Amazon!

I've always been fascinated with certain aspects of this song... and - while I usually look for a song to inspire a character, in this case the words that intrigued me most were, "Planet Earth is blue, and there's nothing I can do."  For some reason it always kind of bothered me that our world was "sad", which is how I interpretted "blue".  I was so moved by this song that I wrote a whole book about it... but that isn't available - at least not yet.
